PCT 22' Strava journal - Day 30

Lake Hughes - Bear Camp ground (Mile 485 - 504)

Crossing the 500 mile mark today, but before we get there we had to go serious lengths to collect our water. The water source is an underground rain barrel hidden in a grass field 2 miles from trail. Other hikers developed a system with a wooden stick and some straps to scoop water.

The rest of the day was pretty hard, the 500 mile mark is located in the middle of a burned area. Of course we played the song and danced on it: I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more! Weirdly enough I felt pretty burned out and only 4 miles after we called it a day. We set up our tents on very large camp space named 'bear campground'. I had to use 4 big rocks to secure my tent from flying away but I slept like a baby.
